Description : |
Espèce indice de zone du Maastrichtien inférieur. Ce spécimen est complet mais cette espèce peut atteindre des tailles bien supérieures. Il compte 14 bullae ombilicales sur le dernier tour et 45 côtes ventrales ce qui le rapproche du type cité dans Hancock 1993. L'ombilic occupe 29% du diamètre total.

Santonien - Maastrichtien Mondiale Ammonites pouvant atteindre de grandes tailles. Ce sont des ammonites qui sont modérément involutes déprimées à comprimées. Les flancs sont hauts et plats parfois convexes. Les côtes principales sont droites et parfois faiblement incurvées. On peut retrouver des bullae sur ces côtes primaires. Les côtes secondaires ne se différencient pas toujours bien. Côtes ombilicales avec ou sans bullae, pouvant persister ou disparaître à maturité. [Kennedy 1986] |

Elle s'en distingue par le développement d'une forte costulation recoupant généralement le ventre et une forte tuberculisation tout au moins sur l'épaulement ombilical. |
